Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was a British author and physician, most noted for creating the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes, generally considered a milestone in the field of crime fiction. Doyle was a prolific writer whose other works include fantasy and science fiction stories about Professor Challenger, as well as plays, romances, poetry, non-fiction and historical novels.
